Nancy Keane compares booktalks to “movie trailers”. The main purpose is to grab the audience‘s interest and make them want to read the book. Booktalks and Beyond promotes fiction reading, book discussion and exploration of featured stories through real-life activities. Chapters are divided into grade K-3 picture books and grade 4-6 fiction. Each age group section includes five booktalks on titles centered on a particular theme, ranging from exceptionalities to immigration to mysteries.
